Geauga Public Libraries Wayfinding Project
Key challenges in this project included:
- Creating Engaging and Functional Spaces: Designing spaces that were not only visually appealing but also served the functional needs of a library.
- Innovative Use of Graphics: Implementing graphics in a way that was visually appealing and aligned with the library's setting and purpose.
- Intuitive Wayfinding within a Library Setting: Developing a wayfinding system that was intuitive and easy to navigate for all library patrons.
Our approach involved:
- Customized Graphic Designs: Creating unique vinyl graphics for walls and windows, including story-themed designs for children's sections and leaf patterns on glass facing highways.
- Brand Consistency: Establishing a new signage design that was consistent with the library's brand across both new locations.
- User-Friendly Navigation: Developing an intuitive wayfinding system, categorizing different sections of the library, such as adult reading, cassettes, videos, and conference rooms.
The project's successful outcomes were:
- Enhanced Aesthetic and Functional Spaces: Both libraries featured unique and engaging designs that improved the overall atmosphere and functionality.
- Effective Wayfinding System: Patrons could easily navigate through the libraries, finding materials and rooms without assistance.
- Distinctive Design Elements: Unique features like the star graphic in the Thompson branch's windows created distinct and memorable visual elements.
